In this new series for BBC Two, Rick Stein embarks on a spectacular journey through the Indian sub-continent to discover the origins of dishes, ingredients and spices celebrated the world over. Intent on finding the perfect curry, Rick discovers new taste sensations and dishes, some of which, have never appeared on a British curry house menu. The series will see him exploring the ethnic influences of Calcutta, the temple food of Tamil Nadu, house-boat hospitality in Kerala, the regal cooking of Rajasthan and the indulgence of India’s gourmet state – The Punjab. He will offer viewers a feast of dishes influenced by India’s colourful history, captivating cultures and enthralling religious communities. In the final programme, Rick puts “6 of the best” recipes discovered on his travels to a panel of curry aficionados in Bradford – will they prove equally appealing to British taste-buds and prove a worthy contender to the infamous Chicken Tikka Masala?
