In September 2023, Northumberland's Sycamore Gap tree was cut down by vandals in the dead of night. The felling of this celebrated landmark, which had famously stood in a remote nook of Hadrian's Wall for more than a century, provoked outrage, disbelief and grief among the public. This two-part documentary tells the story of the police investigation that followed, from the first 999 calls to the breakthroughs that led to the arrests of friends Adam Carruthers and Daniel Graham, and reveals the twists and turns of one of the most shocking acts of vandalism in recent British history.
