Episode summary:

Design Star returns to LA for a splashy season seven. Twelve gifted designers compete for the job of a lifetime: their own show on HGTV. In this season premiere, Host and Mentor David Bromstad reveals their first challenge: to team up and make over six empty rooms in the stunning mansion where they will be living. Prior to arriving, the Designers were told to send a decor item from home that represents their personal style. In an unexpected twist, they learn that they must each find a way to successfully incorporate that item into their shared space. With only three days to complete their rooms, the teams race to make creative decisions on the fly. Some teams work harmoniously, and others find it difficult to agree. On the final day, they face the Design Panel, Vern Yip and Genevieve Gorder, who are joined by this week's special guest, model and entrepreneur Daisy Fuentes. The Panel chooses a winner, and the least successful designer is eliminated.
